Team Speed Breaking

The video above demonstrates how the Team Speed Breaking Event is to be performed.   

Description: In this competition, teams of 3 members work against time to break the most boards with a Roundhouse Kick.

Objective: Be the Team to BREAK the most boards according to the procedure and within the time limit.

Divisions: there will be only two (2) divisions:
                    • Color Belt, and
                    • Black Belt
A Team may have a combination or Color Belts and Black Belts. Any Team that has a Black Belt member will be placed in the Black Belt division. Gender, Age, Rank and Weight do not apply.

Procedure: Each team is comprised of three (3) members: a kicker, a holder, and a “feeder”. The “feeder” will supply the holder with a supply of specified boards (see below) one at a time. The kicker, using a roundhouse kick only, will break as many boards as possible in a ten (10) second time limit.

        The kicker becomes the feeder. The feeder becomes the holder, etc. until all 3 members have completed kicking.

        The entire kicking process must be completed within 1 minute. The team must clear all broken boards from the competition area within 2 minutes of the judges direction “Bow ... Begin”.

Deductions: A one (1) point deduction will be declared for
            • for each 5 seconds the team is overtime
            • inappropriate behavior / unsportsmanlike conduct
        Winner is the team with the most boards BROKEN. In the event of a tie, the judges will decide the winner, based on overall presentation. The spectators may be asked to cheer appropriately to help decide best presentation.

    NOTE: Each team member will be required to purchase 10 Boards. Unbroken boards belong to the purchaser. Additional charge is included in registration.
